"We did weird things in voice lessons today.."

What did Miss Jordyn make you do today?! Is she insane?

No, I am not insane! Sometimes we use things that seem 'weird' for voice lessons. Some examples:
-Chopsticks
-Straw(s)
-Wine corks
-Exercise Bands
-Foursquare ball
-Hoberman Sphere
-Your pointer fingers (WHAT?)

All of these things are great tools for you to utilize in your lessons and at home in your practice!

Voice lessons are sometimes challenging to teach because we cannot reach into your throat and adjust your vocal mechanism...though it would be much simpler! It takes a cooperation between both the teacher and the student to utilize creative tools in order to achieve an AMAZING sound. You'll get there; you just have to be a bit open to new tools! My favorite tool? The straw! Here is a straw phonation video...try it out!

Straw Phonation Rocks!

It would be fantastic for you to bring some of these things with you to your lessons every week so we can try new things every lesson! Plus your pencil...always bring your pencil. And a water bottle. :)

Love,
Miss Jordyn
